Every Breath I Take

In her fourth essay on the elements, writer TJ Gristwood explores the power of the air that we breathe.

From the first inhale as a newborn babe, to the last exhale as a wise woman leaving this world, the element of air plays a vital part in a woman’s physical and emotional well-being.

Women are deep thinkers and air represents intention, mental intellect and the connection to our life force.

Air is the silent conductor of our lives.

She will whisper to us in the darkness when our mind is unsettled. She will encourage us to connect to our higher self when we are confused. She is always there, holding us, guiding us, but only if we take the time to listen.

Burn Baby Burn

Since the very first human rubbed two sticks together, fire has become an essential element in our lives, representing passion, deep cleansing, transformation and new beginnings. TJ Gristwood invites us to follow the flames.

Fire is many things and for women, it is the seductive power that dances deep within our bellies and glows warmly within our hearts.

When fire energy burns brightly it gives us immense power but if the flames are extinguished we can feel cold, powerless and alone in the dark. With the ability to amplify or destroy, depending on how we use it, the element of fire needs careful management.

Dig Deep

If you are a tree hugger, avid gardener or barefoot walker then you are already in tune with the element of Earth. Earth represents our sense of stability, practicality, safety, and loyalty and is one of the most powerful of the four elements for a woman to use throughout her life, says TJ Gristwood.

Earth is more than just grounding. It is beginnings and endings. Where we start and where we finish.

Our planet is the very root of our existence. Viewed from space this floating blue and white living and breathing sphere is majestic in its beauty. And women are more than just a reflection of Gaia, the creator of us all, they are the anchor that nurtures life as it revolves.

A Drop in the Ocean

Four elements link us spiritually, emotionally and physically to our world. Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Women connect, reflect and channel these elements in many ways. Here, writer TJ Gristwood dives deep into our connection with water.

The element of water relates to emotion. Dreams featuring water often reveal messages our subconscious is trying to disclose. Whether it is the uncomfortable sensation of drowning or floating on a peaceful millpond, our link to the element of water is strong.

Women’s emotions can run as deep as an ocean and are often just as mysterious…

By Invitation Only

It’s not just the people we invite into our lives that need to complement rather than complicate, says TJ Gristwood. Our emotions too should be invite-only if we are to enjoy a free-flowing experience while navigating life.

Life should be seen as a special event. Something to celebrate every day. A ‘party’ that we organise and orchestrate.

Who we invite depends on all manner of things, but when we are in control of the guest list the obvious choice would be people that enhance, add warmth, excitement, and bring interesting conversation to the table rather than leaving the front door wide open as an invitation to all and sundry…
